So I wrote a pretty long blog about receiving a spiritual gift our first day of ministry and as I was copying it over from my iPad notes, it deleted. Here is the gist of the blog:
While prayer walking in the barrios (neighborhood) when walked into a house and became praying for this woman. I started feeling like I was being choked. No words were coming out! The next words I uttered were in TONGUES!! After the prayer was over, my spirit was completely changed. The women we prayed over said that we need to be in communication spirit to spirit. As we walked out of the house, I told my team that I spoke in tongues for the first time and Liz, a girl on my team, said as I was praying in tongues she felt the atmosphere shift. That night as I was reading my devotional, it talked about gifts of the Spirit. Acts 2:4 "All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit." COMPLETE AFFIRMATION!!!
All during debrief I prayed for closeness to the Lord in a different way. Our last night of debrief we had a prayer tunnel and I was spoken over that I would see a different side of the Lord this month. I didn't know my first day of ministry would open my eyes So much to what the Lord had in store.
I am learning how powerful and vital prayer is. I am learning the bigness of the Lord. I am learning what the Lord's voice sounds like. I am learning that I will ALWAYS be a learner.
