Several mini light bulbs attached by a long wire.  Light bulbs of many different colors that each have an individual glow.  If I were in the states, my family would be loading into a car and driving around in awe of all the houses decorated with Christmas lights.  This year is different.  Christmas lights have become a whole new meaning for me this year.  I walk twenty minutes to Loi Kroh road to sit down on a bench and look at Christmas lights.  On Loi Kroh road every bar that has Christmas lights signifies that there is a woman in the back of the bar waiting for someone to spend money to have sex with her.  This is real life y'all! Every strand of light you see catches your eyes.  We as humans are drawn to the glow of the lights, not the house that is holding up the lights.  People walking down Loi Kroh road are attracted to the lights, to what they see  on the surface.  Why is that? Why are people today so attracted to what is giving off an artificial glow?
As you drive around with friends and family looking at Christmas lights, I want you to look past the lights.  Look at the center of each bulb and notice the source of where the light comes from. Get past the hoopla of shining lights, buying gifts and understand the only gift worth receiving was given over 2,000 years ago.  I am reminded as I sit on wooden benches at the bars of the manger my Savior laid in as a newborn.  As I sit down, the Holy Spirit is with me. As we both sit in such a dark atmosphere we give off a light that isn't artificial.  It is light that never burns out.  It is a light that you don't have to take down or that stops shining as the seasons change.

John 1:5 "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."

Ephesians 5:8  "For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light."

Romans 13:12  "…so let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light."

Matthew 5:16 "In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."

Isaiah 60:19 "The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory."
