10. I can bungee jump, and live to tell about it! In fact, I can jump off the Victoria Falls bridge twice and live to tell about it. I can also zip line over Victoria Falls. Mic drop.
9. Bucket showers are worth it if that means you get to have air conditioning in your room. I can work with that.
8. Slashing grass by hand is pretty tough work. Wear gloves.
7. Playing “assassin” with 36 squad mates really brings out the spirit of competition, and qualities in myself that I didn’t realize existed.
6. Walking with lions and cheetahs is definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity. Mainly because I was almost mauled to death by Nala.
5. Letting a little orphan boy lay his head in my lap during church service is worth not hearing anything the preacher is saying.
4. Teaching about what it means to be a “Child of God” and being reminded that I, myself am a child of God. Even at 28.
3. Cooking for 37 people is actually really fun and provides space for lots of creativity! Grilled cheese with onions, tomato and a fried egg anyone?
2. Sometimes you just have to treat yourself (and your team) to a little buffet action at a super nice resort. Did someone say dessert bar?
1. Sitting in brokenness isn’t so bad, once you’ve identified that’s what you’re walking through currently. It allows for space to be still with the Lord.
Zambia was a hard month for me spiritually. I was in a season of brokenness and I wasn’t hearing a ton from the Lord. I felt like we weren’t having the quality time together like we did in Malawi and that was super frustrating.
Although there were always people around, I ended up really enjoying getting to know other squad mates on a deeper level. God put all of us together on this squad for a reason. He knew that we would sharpen one another.
With that being said, Zambia was the most adventurous month for me so far. I bungee jumped, I zip lined and I canyon swung over Victoria Falls. It was amazing! I went on my second Africa Safari and saw hundreds of elephants, zebras, giraffes, water buffalo, monkeys. It was unreal. I walked with lions and cheetahs, I did it all! God has blessed me with the opportunity to be on the World Race and I am doing it all!
