One of the things AIM stresses at Training Camp, is the importance of fully being present in the moment. They didn't give us an itenerary of the week, the didn't brief us of the days events every morning, we found out what we were supposed to be doing right before we were supposed to do it.
…and it was AWESOME.
For once I didn't have to worry about what I was doing the next day, the next week, or even next year. This allowed me to be fully present for every conversation, task, or dance session, or card game that was thrown at me.
Unfortunately, when TC ended, so did this mentality for me.
When I came home, I was back to worrying about fundraising, the weekends events, and the unknown next year will bring. My mind has been in January. Because of this, I have been totally indifferent about what is going on right now, in my own country. The election, the hurricane, what my friends is trying to tell me. I haven't cared about anything but the future.
I have 2 months left in the US. That TWO TIMES as long as I will be in any nation next year. That's a lot of time to make a difference.
So from today on, I will take things day by day. Which is why………………………………..
I just applied for one of AIM's relief trips in New York. If they accept me, (they already know I'm crazy!) I will be leaving THIS Sunday for New York for 6 days so serve victims of the hurricane.
I. am. SO. excited!
