Have you ever stood on the shore, looking out onto the ocean and thought, “I wish this ocean was a little bigger” or “The water isn’t hitting the sand the way I would like it to”?
Have you ever stood at the top of a mountain and wished the peak was shaped a different way?
Have you ever watched a bird glide through the sky and wish it could move faster or fly better?
My guess is for most of you, the answer is no. I would venture to guess that most of us look at God’s creation in awe. We look at the oceans and the mountains and soak in the beauty.
But why can’t we do this with the creation God adores most? Why can’t we do this with ourselves? Why can’t we do this with others?
The great news is, we have been created by a perfect God. And he created us in HIS OWN IMAGE. (Genesis 1:27). We were created by a God who makes nothing less than BEAUTIFUL.
Our views of ourselves and others have been tainted by the world. Babies don’t come out thinking people are fat, ugly, too tall, too short or not enough. It is our experiences that create a haze over our eyes. We can’t see ourselves or others clearly.
Every negative thing we say or hear about ourselves or others blurs our vision more. Every time we compare ourselves to the person standing next to us, it is harder for us to see. Every time we look in the mirror and wish something besides what we see, we literally become numb and blind to beauty.
Look at what He has created. He called it good. He calls us beautiful.
Below is the group of people that I get to squad lead in a little less than a month. I can already see the beauty in each of them. It is my prayer for them and everyone reading this that when it comes to the opinion of yourself, take God’s side.
