In the
two months since I last posted to this blog, I have had the
opportunity to do something that most people would love to do but
hardly ever actually have the chance to do (and I haven’t even left for the actual Race yet!). In order to do what I did, I have
traveled over 6,000 miles. I have stayed in 8 states. I have not
stayed in one place consecutively more than a week and a half. And
what is it that I did that was worth all of that? I spent time with
people I love
.

For the
last three months, I have been blessed with the rare opportunity to
actually invest in and enjoy time with friends and family, some of
whom live states away or that I haven’t seen in years. And as I’ve
been traveling around, I have been able to see and experience a
beautiful picture of family (both the kind you choose and the kind
you don’t choose:)) and the body of Christ. So many people have
rallied around me and supported me as I get ready to take this next
step. So to all of you who are behind me in this, I want to say
thank you.

Thank
you for listening as I shared my story.

Thank
you for passing on my story to your circles of influence.

Thank
you for the many financial sacrifices you have made to support me.

Thank
you for encouraging me to take this step of faith.

Thank
you for praying for me.

Thank
you for being an amazing support system that I know I can count on
even when I’m thousands of miles away. I have truly been overwhelmed
by all the love and support that I have experienced over the last few
months.

And now
I have another rare opportunity–to see a different picture of
family–in my team and squad–and the body of Christ–the global
one. I am so excited to begin this journey and to experience all
that this next year holds, even though I have no idea what to expect.
Which leads me to another thing I have been learning over the last
couple months. Things often don’t turn out how you expect, and it’s
really difficult to let go of expectations. A couple of my
expectations that have already been changed:

I have a
new team. A couple of people from my original team are now going on
a different route, so our team had to make some changes. I am now
part of Team Deliverance, and I’m excited to get to know this new
group of people over the next year!

Also, my
route has changed. Due to health and safety concerns, several of the
countries have been dropped or changed order. So this is my route as
it stands today. However, it could change again at any moment:)
