There’s been a lot of new beginnings lately.
I moved to Gainesville the week before last. Not Gainesville Florida. Definitely not Florida. The leaves are turning color when they’re supposed to, and there’s a hint of crisp in the wind that whips across my face as I walk across the small town’s square.
Another new beginning is that I’m working for a missions organization. When people used to ask me what it looked like to answer God’s call to ‘full time ministry’, I never really knew the answer. I assumed I’d be a single missionary overseas or that I’d join the ‘wife’ ministry and that would be the sum of my future. And while those are large and admirable feats and I’m excited to one day be a wife & mother, I’m thrilled to keep finding that God always has more for each and every one of us.
For right now my ‘more’ looks like serving Adventures In Missions. In my own words, Adventures’s primary purpose is to bring the Kingdom of God through means of being led by God’s spirit in all things, and through innovation; AIM is constantly changing to improve and to be relevant. I get to be a small part of a large team that’s going to help make God-sized vision into a reality.
And I’m really excited about it.
…But before I was able to get too ahead of myself, Adventures sent us off to the lush nooks and crannies of northern Georgia..
[Doesn’t this make you think of little Frodo Baggins, the hobbit who braved the Old Forest and Mount Doom??]
Something that makes me get all googly-eyed at this missions organization is that it prioritizes the art of ‘listening prayer’ in everything. In other words, we value God’s influence. Without Him, it’s guaranteed we would be operating from a flesh perspective.
So off we went to the wilderness to let God begin a new thing in ourselves, before beginning new things.
I got to spend time getting to know these amazing brothers and sisters who will be part of the Fellowship program with me. Our goal in the Fellowship program is to excel in the areas of leadership and professional development for 6 months. Sounds a little intimidating, but I’m grateful for each one of these beautiful individuals who will be taking on this new season side by side with me.
The Fellowship [Of The Ring.. ish]
