– Proverbios 31:8-9

These are a couple of my favorite verses. My heart longs to stand up for those without a voice. Minorities, people with disabilities, and especially orphans or children in abusive/neglective situations. The bible doesn’t say maybe we should help people in these situations if we feel like it, it’s convenient or if it’s Christmas season. It states it in a way that we MUST stand up. In Isaiah 1:17 and Psalm 82:3 it says once again, defend the oppressed and the fatherless.

I do strongly believe that whether we stand up for the oppressed through social work, adoption, bringing awareness, providing needs or interceding through prayer, as followers of Jesus I know Jesus would want us to do at least one of those things. I’ve gotten to take care of, serve and love a number of kids that fit this category this year from different countries, cultures, and upbringings and I want to ask for you to join me in prayer for them. There are many others just like them around the world, but here are some kids specifically you can put a name and face to the statistics. Each and every name listed is a kid who I got the pleasure of spending 1 month with. Please intercede for them in prayer and if you feel lead, you can support them financially through their websites too.

note: Some pics are from their websites and were not taken by myself.

Village of the Children – Peru

Many of these guys staying at this orphanage have experienced abuse from drunk parents. Some don’t have any family at all, and a few have parents unable to provide for them but may still visit.

Children’s Garden – Philippines

A lot of these guys were living on the streets, searching for food, and doing drugs because they found it better than being with their abusive family. Some don’t have any family, some do but they’re aren’t able to support them.

Alcoholism and child abuse is common in this village too. These kids are in this emergency shelter/home for a couple weeks or a couple years depending on if parents change their actions and social services permits them to return home.
