We are in Cambodia! We have been here for a couple weeks already for our 6 month debrief. Yup more than half way through our trip, it’s crazy, and hard to believe. We only have 4 more countries left! Ahh! But anyway it has been a great time being with the whole squad family as well as a few other squads that were close by. We had a few days to enjoy worship with about 150 people doing what we’re doing and hear about the things God has done in other squads that went to Greece to help with refugees, remote villages in Chile. It was a great and well needed time to rejuvenate and regain our excitement for what we have the opportunity to do. To share the love of Jesus with so many different people around the world while getting to experience them in their culture and country and meet them where they’re at, and to see God with different eyes.
Estamos en Camboya! Hemos estado aquí por un par de semanas para nuestro informe de 6 meses. Sí, más de la mitad de nuestro viaje, es una locura y es difícil de creer. ¡Solo nos quedan 4 países más! Ahh! Pero de todos modos ha sido un gran momento para estar con toda la familia de escuadrones, así como con algunos otros escuadrones que estaban cerca. Tuvimos algunos días para disfrutar de la adoración con aproximadamente 150 personas haciendo lo que estamos haciendo y escuchando las cosas que Dios ha hecho en otros escuadrones que fueron a Grecia para ayudar con los refugiados, aldeas remotas en Chile. Fue un gran momento y muy necesario para rejuvenecer y recuperar nuestra emoción por lo que tenemos la oportunidad de hacer. Para compartir el amor de Jesús con tantas personas diferentes de todo el mundo, a la vez que experimentarlos en su cultura y su país, conocerlos en donde se encuentran y ver a Dios con otros ojos.
Anywho our ministry this month is, well not exactly planned. It was supposed to be a month where my team searched around the city, Siem Reap, for ministries that Adventures in MIssions (AIM) can work with and send future teams to. Since a team just did that last month, we are actually going to help at these ministries and let AIM know how it goes so they can decide if they want to build a long-term partnership with them. While we wait to hear from these ministries, the last few days my team and I have enjoyed cleaning up the hostel we’re staying at that’s owned by AIM. We’ve done lots of pruning, dusting, painting, and some other things which has been fun.
We are staying in a beautiful neighborhood that’s away from everything but still close to the city and plenty of neighbors which is perfect. After spending last month right in the middle of a bustling city I am so thankful to have a more relaxing environment. This month has almost felt surreal wth how much I have enjoyed spending time with my team, the squad, and going to an English speaking church just once so far. Life has started to go by very quickly which is bittersweet. I still miss my family, friends, and boyfriend at home of course but I really love the constant community I’m in here and will have to figure out how to create that with good friends at home.
Nuestro ministerio este mes, no está exactamente planeado. Se suponía que era un mes en el que mi equipo recorría la ciudad, Siem Reap, en busca de ministerios en los que Adventures in Mission (AIM) pueda trabajar y enviar futuros equipos. Dado que un equipo acaba de hacer eso el mes pasado, de hecho vamos a ayudar en estos ministerios y dejar que AIM sepa cómo funciona para que puedan decidir si quieren construir una asociación a largo plazo con ellos. Mientras esperamos escuchar de estos ministerios, los últimos días mi equipo y yo hemos disfrutado limpiando el albergue en el que nos alojamos y que es propiedad de AIM. Hemos hecho mucha poda, desempolvamiento, pintura y algunas otras cosas que han sido divertidas.
Nos estamos quedando en un hermoso vecindario que está lejos de todo, pero aún cerca de la ciudad y de muchos vecinos, que es perfecto. Después de pasar el mes pasado justo en el medio de una ciudad bulliciosa, estoy muy agradecido de tener un ambiente más relajado. Este mes casi me ha parecido surrealista con lo mucho que he disfrutado pasar tiempo con mi equipo, el escuadrón y yendo a una iglesia de habla inglesa solo una vez hasta ahora. La vida ha comenzado a pasar muy rápido, que es agridulce. Todavía echo de menos a mi familia, amigos y novio en casa, por supuesto, pero realmente amo la comunidad constante en la que estoy y tendré que descubrir cómo crear eso con buenos amigos en casa.
Please pray that God will not let opportunities to share His love, or just enjoy our present life pass us by. It’s tempting to look at the future and try to start planning things, but being on the race has really reminded me of just how important it is to be present where you are and with the people in your life that week. Also for our renewed excitement and energy to be renewed each month!
Por favor, oren para que Dios no permita que las oportunidades de compartir su amor, o simplemente disfrutar de nuestra vida presente nos hagan pasar. Es tentador mirar el futuro y tratar de comenzar a planear cosas, pero estar en la carrera realmente me ha recordado lo importante que es estar presente donde estás y con las personas en tu vida esa semana. También para renovar nuestra emoción y energía para renovar cada mes!
