First off, I want to apologize for not posting in so long! I know I said I would have a video with my supplies ready a while back. The thing is I actually finished the edited video and my computer hasn’t been working for almost a month now so I haven’t been able to post it. So yeah, things don’t always go as planned but it’s all good.
I just got home from my training camp and I finally met my squad, aka my family for the next year! If you’re interested in getting to know them better their blogs are listed on the left hand side of my blog underneath “meet my squad” and also my teammate Kaitlyn made a short bio for us all on her blog http://kaitlynupton.theworldrace.org/post/introducing-y-squad-better-known-as-why-squad

My squad family of 20 will be going to each country with me for the next year and we are split into 3 teams for ministry and living. We are split up because not all of the host homes will be able to house all 20 of us, and some of the ministries we work with will only need a handful of us for our community tasks. I’m in a team with 6 awesome women named Kaitlyn, Kenna, Lyndsee,Paxtyn, Monica, and Kirsten. We will be by each other’s side day in and day out encouraging each other in our faith and serving others.
Mi grupo grande es 20 personas y estamos separado en 3 equipos por ministerio. Mi equipo es yo y 6 más chicas, se llamen Kaitlyn, Kenna, Lyndsee,Paxtyn, Monica, and Kirsten.

As for training camp…it was great! I must say even though I workout somewhat regularly, I don’t think I’ve ever worked out that much in a short period of time. Running with my pack on among other exercise was challenging, but my whole squad passed the hike test on the first try! We also got used to living outside in our tents, port-a-pottys for the whole week, packing up all of our items just about every day, and eating without utensils or often soap to clean our hands.
On the more positive side of things though, I don’t think I’ve ever felt more peace about a decision in my life before. About 4 or 5 years ago God has put a yearning on my heart to live outside the U.S. for a season doing something a bit crazy and unknown to trust him and serve others and I really do believe this is the trip He has been preparing me for.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7
I’m not so excited about leaving everyone behind. I’ll be missing life events of some friends of mine. I’ll also miss all the smiley faces my sister, Leah leaves everywhere and of course my amazing boyfriend of 2 years, Taji. I know I have to follow God though, and he has provided so much for me and given me lots of peace. I’m excited to see the amazing things God’s going to do through my squad to show others that he’s real and loves them!
Enjoy the photos, I’ll recreate and post a video soon!
