First off meet my new team, “Freedom”. Monica and Kenna are still on my team, but now we joined Mack, David, and Zachery. We chose this name because we all are going through a season of finding freedom in God with certain things in our life. As we’re doing that we also want to bring freedom to those we meet together in the next few months.
Primero conozco a mi nuevo equipo, “Freedom”. Monica y Kenna todavía están en mi equipo, pero ahora nos unimos a Mack, David y Zachery. Elegimos este nombre porque todos estamos pasando por una época de encontrar la libertad en Dios con ciertas cosas en nuestra vida. Mientras lo hacemos, también queremos brindar libertad a quienes nos encontramos en los próximos meses.
For our first month together we’re living at our ministry with a group of teenage boys ages 12-18. Many were abandoned at a young age and lived on the streets for a few years before the ministry found them and took them in. A few others were working full time for their parents and not allowed to go to school. This unfortunately is pretty common here in the Philippines, but the organization is only able to take in so many kids.

Durante nuestro primer mes juntos, estamos viviendo en nuestro ministerio con un grupo de adolescentes de entre 12 y 18 años se llama Children’s Garden. Muchos fueron abandonados a una edad temprana y vivieron en las calles durante algunos años antes de que el ministerio los encontrara y los acogiera. Algunos otros trabajaban a tiempo completo para sus padres, a veces abusado y no se les permitía ir a la escuela. Desafortunadamente, esto es bastante común aquí en Filipinas, pero la organización solo puede captar a tantos niños.
It’s been a lot of fun being pranked by the boys within the first day of meeting them and getting to know such jokers. I have loved getting to know each of them more, hearing more about their stories and being able to see how far they have come. I really see God moving in their lives and growing them to become great men who serve others, respect women, and take responsibility.
Ha sido muy divertido el hecho de que los muchachos se burlaran del primer día de conocerlos y de conocer a esos bromistas. Me encantó conocer a cada uno más, escuchar más sobre sus historias y ser capaz de ver qué tan lejos han llegado. Realmente veo a Dios moviéndose en sus vidas y cultivándolos para convertirse en grandes hombres que sirven a los demás, respetan a las mujeres y asumen la responsabilidad.
This year will be my first Christmas away from home, but we’ve been making no bake cookies and playing lots of card games which reminds me of Christmas time at home. I’m glad we get to be here with the boys here for the biggest Filipino holiday and we get the chance to show them how valuable they are in God’s eyes.
Este año será mi primera Navidad lejos de casa, pero no hemos estado haciendo galletas y jugando muchos juegos de cartas que me recuerdan la época navideña en casa. Me alegra que podamos estar aquí con los niños aquí para la fiesta de FIlipino más grande y tenemos la oportunidad de mostrarles lo valiosos que son a los ojos de Dios.
