This week I decided to post a blog of photos of our ministry! Each day we teach English for a few hours in the morning and then spend some time with our ministry host, VT Samuel and his wife Elizabeth. They live with 19 children, most of whom are homeless, orphans, or don’t have access to education in their villages. Some don’t even speak Burmese and only know their indigenous languages from home. We have loved being able to teach and play with them over the past week and a half.
Scroll through to see some shots and short captions of what we do each day!

Every morning we take bus #35 for about an hour to just outside the city of Yangon where our ministry host lives.

After we get off the bus we have about a 15 minute walk to the children’s home. The walk looks more like the village life we experienced in Guatemala and is surrounded by people’s homes and Buddhist temples.

We usually start off the mornings with games and stretches and just playing with the kids.

Musical chairs is a favorite!

This is Joseph, our ministry host’s 12-year-old son.

The “hand-slap” game is also one we play a lot.

Sometimes we’ll have the kids read passages from an English Bible to work on their pronunciation.

Our goal is for everyone to be able to touch their toes by the end of our month! We’re not all there yet…

Teaching nouns, verbs, and adjectives!

And of course adverbs 🙂

After our students leave around 11:30, our host leads us in a short Bible study where we sing, read scripture, and share prayer requests. As Samuel’s instruction, we all pray at the same time in our own languages and then whoever goes the longest says “amen.”

This is the yard outside the children’s home. They’ve been praying for bigger land for a few years so the 19 children have more room to play.

Some of the beds where the boys sleep.

This is the entrance into their home.

Ladder/stairs leading up to the second floor where we teach and the girls sleep.

Some of our students!

The rooftop view of the inner city of Myanmar from our hostel. The sunset is always smoggy but still beautiful to watch every night.
We love our ministry this month and getting the opportunity to teach everyday! VT Samuel and Elizabeth are in need of a lot of prayer, starting with a steady income, a small business to provide for them, more land, sick relatives, their children’s studies, a car, musical instruments, and just more help in general. Please walk with us in prayer this month that the Lord will continue to provide for his children in Myanmar. As always, thank you for reading!
