hey there! been a minute since i’ve sat down to write you a blog, mostly just because i’ve been living a whole lot of life, but i’m glad to be back with ya!

this past week has been a whirlwind, but i’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to curate a space that feels like home. & also just what home really feels like. i think it’s pretty obvious to say that home isn’t a building, it’s more of an atmosphere. the blocks that make up home (at least in my mind) are things like: safety, comfort, dependability & warmth. it just feels like somewhere your heart can come & expect to be held well. it’s a place with hard conversations, belly laughter, & tender memories. oh & it’s a place where Holy Spirit dwells too 🙂

i’ve come to find all of these good things in our little room here in Guatemala. & it truly is just such a sweet, holy space for our hearts to come together & just be.

my bed has also become somewhat of the living room at times too. & i mean this in the best of ways. where i rest my head is also a space i get to invite others into. it’s not a whole lot of ground to offer, but my heart happily welcomes in others that want to share it with me. this open invitation really isn’t all that convenient though honestly. my flesh doesn’t always want butts on my pillow or dirty feet on my blanket, but my spirit is always ready to sacrifice those things.

choosing into people in this way is just too good to pass up y’all. i continually get the opportunity of loving people which is kinda the coolest. even when it’s late at night, there’s lots of friends, or there’s a lot of tears. it’s still good.

& dang God chooses into us in the same way alllll day everyday (in a deeper way though:) He’s our refuge & our fortress. our comfort & our safe place. always ready to sit with us.

“My people will abide in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.” Isaiah 30v18

i also have to mention that our hearts get to be His dwelling place too. & dang. that just gets me hyped y’all.

much love, erika

p.s. ministry has been so incredibly fruitful also! have spent a lot of time hearing people’s hearts, teaching kiddos english, & praying over folks. & it just keeps getting sweeter. more about ministry to come 🙂
