oh hey there!
we moved to costa rica & it’s a lil wild. been living in guatemala for three months & it truly felt like home. my heart grew a lot there, so goodbyes were hard. i’m incredibly grateful to feel each goodbye i give because many of the best things in life are both good & hard at the same time. the depth of love, gratitude & sorrow in every goodbye is like that.
it’s really the people & culture that’s difficult to leave. never have i done ministry in a more warm, receptive, and welcoming culture. as we loved people and poured out a lil of jesus’ heart, it was poured right back out to us. & dang was it an honor.
a few things that’ll always remind me of guatemala:
- hosptiality ! (at homes we were always invited in, offered a seat & whatever else they had to give)
- the sound of fresh tortillas being formed
- the bright colors & textiles
- speaking Spanish! (this has been SO fun for me & challenging)
- volcanos (got to summit my first one there 🙂
anywhos! i’m just really grateful for our season there & all that it brought. & now i live in the jungle of costa rica! much more life to come from here & i can’t wait to tell you all about it!
we’ll be working with a local church to help lead church services, & a youth group which is super fun! additionally we’ll be doing manual labor on our base, beach clean-up, & evangelism. maybe also some more stuff 🙂
much love,
erika
