Digging his ditches. Preparing his fields. Building his ark.

Vasillie, a Moldovan Pastor, and faithful servant is our contact for the month. The more time that we spend with this man the more evident it is that this man loves God and is a man of obedience and trust. He is a man full  of faith.

When we first arrived we sat down with him to ask questions, learn more about his ministry and see how we would fit in for the time that we were here. He shared that he is working on building churches in the surrounding villages and we would be helping to do construction at two of the sites.

We asked him how we could be praying for him, and his answers spoke volumes. He asked us to pray for the people in the area who are against the church. Eastern Orthodox is the main religion here in Moldova. To most it is considered as much a part of their culture and way of life. If you walk away from the Orthodox church its like walking away from your culture, your nationality. The people get very angry about people wanting to share the gospel. He asked us to pray for church growth, for people to come to know Christ. He asked for financial provision and he asked us to pray for pastors for the churches he is building.

Stop. Read that last prayer request again.

He asked us to pray for pastors at the churches he is building. He doesn’t know how the plan will be finished. He takes what God has given him now and is faithful with that. He is doing what God has called him to do, build churches. He trusts that God will provide financially to make it happen, and God has and is continuing to. He doesn’t know where the rest of the money will come from or the pastors. Several times this week while working on the construction sites he has shared parts of his vision for the projects we are working on. Three showers for the community to be able to use, and a kitchen for make food for the poor and orphans. As he has shared everything that still needs to be done there were many times I heard him say “We will see what God will do.”

Getting to spend the first ten days of our month in Moldova with this man has been an incredible blessing to my team and I. It was such a joy to be able to come along side him and get to play a small part in helping him build the churches or the “House of Prayer” as he calls them.
