Today is my birthday! That’s right, 30 years old, a new decade!
I think back on my life and all the things I have seen, experienced, grown in, understood, still learning, and walking through. The Lord has been such a wonderful remaining constant in my life and for that I can’t thank Him enough for being my solid rock.
I don’t claim to know everything about everything. I’m always walking in curiosity and seeking wisdom from those around me. However I’ve learned a couple of things throughout these thirty years, and I want to share some life lessons that I’ve learned through the Lord, and through the people he has placed in my life.
So here they are:
-
There is no such thing as perfection. We will fail as human beings.
-
Seek wisdom from those around you.
-
Use discernment in making decisions.
-
Community is crucial to the Christian walk.
-
The Lord is the only constant foundation that will never change.
-
Always be ready.
-
Be Bold.
-
Intentionally seek people and press into them.
-
Boundaries are a lifesaver and necessary.
-
Seasons are temporary and ever changing.
-
Friends will come into your life and those same friends will leave, and that’s ok.
-
Hard truths and feedback are helpful to growth.
-
Be a listening ear and make sure people are heard.
-
Take risks for the Gospel.
-
There are appropriate times for everything.
-
Pay attention to your surroundings.
-
Be open to change.
-
Walk with your hands open to what the Lord has for you.
-
Cling tightly to Jesus.
-
Love is not love, love is what God intends it to be.
-
Reconciliation must be had in a community of believers.
-
However reconciliation looks different for each situation.
-
Remember to just laugh, don’t get hung up on the weight of the world that we forget to smile.
-
Live in the moment and take things day by day.
-
Life can always be worse, but we have a blessed hope in Jesus no matter how difficult our circumstances are.
-
Only Jesus can heal and restore us.
-
It’s ok to not be ok.
-
Crying is good for the soul, release it.
-
When you say yes to the Lord, you better mean it, nothing can be conditional.
-
Real Grace exists in the arms of the Father.
I know there are more lessons I have learned and more I will learn. Walking this journey with the Lord has been one heck of a rollercoaster, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Hello Thirty! I’m ready for you!
