THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

January 18, 2009 | by archiveworldraceblogs

Most people when they think about the Domincan Republic think of pristine white beaches and fruity drinks. My team is blessed to be serving GOD in Azua, a working class town in the southern part of the DR that most tourists never get a chance to see.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words so here are some pictures from our 1st week of ministry.

Here is a picture of the mural which is on the side of the school where we are teaching English to kids and adults.
The mural incoporates Proverbs 1 Verse 7 which says The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge but fools despise
wisdom and discipline.

Victrail this picture is for you… it is me teaching basketball fundamentals to kids in Azua

Typical House in Azua and my wonderful teamate Kim

We fit 13 people in a Montero Sport which is not uncommon.

I LOVE SWEETS and these may not look good but these are SO GOOD. They are no bake chocolate oatmeal peanut butter cookies. To my Friends and Family I am posting the recipe for these delicious cookies below…please make these coolies and post comments on my blog about what you think about them.

No Bake Oatmeal
Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies

2 cups sugar

½ cup (1 stick)
of butter

½ cup cocoa

½ cup milk

3 cups oats

½-3/4 peanut
butter

1 tsp vanilla

Bring milk,
sugar, butter, vanilla and cocoa to a boil.

Continue to
stir.

Remove from
stove when combined.

Stir in peanut
butter and oats.

Put on waxed
paper in balls and let cool.

You can cool
them on the counter or cool them in the refrigerator.

Thank you so much To all the people who have supported me. I only need $5,365 to be fully funded for this trip. If you want to make a tax deductible financial contribution please click on the Click Here to Make a Tax Dedudictble Financial Contribution Button on the Left Hand Side of this Website.
