I am a 25 year old orphan living on top of a landfill called Rubbish Mountain.
Trash trucks full of garbage and disease whiz by every couple minutes. The stench and flys from the tons and tons of trash around me is enough to make the average person want to vomit.
My home is a tarp held up by pieces of wobbly wood. My home is on the land fill…. not next to it but right on top of the trash that other people throw away. I am surrounded by flies, disease and a horrible stench.
I pick through garbage 7 days a week looking for plastic bottles and anything valuable to sell. I am saving up money so I can attend English classes. I want to become a teacher.
I talk to foreigners so that I can practice my English.
I do not sleep under the tarp I call home because other people who live on Rubbish Mountain have threatened my life for giving good advice to foreigners. I tell foreigners to be careful, watch your belongings carefully and do not travel by yourself. My own people have threatened my life so my friends and I sleep on or near the road the trash trucks travel to dump the trash.
I became a CHRISTian 2 weeks ago and wear a cross dog tag around my neck.
The dog tag was given to me by missionaries from Asia.
I want to go to church but I do not know where one is.
I still smile and want to help and have a light shining through my soul despite my circumstances
My name is SIN (this is his real name) and I have been redeemed by the Blood of Jesus Christ.
This is the story of a man named Sin I met almost 2 weeks ago on our last day of ministry. His story and life are a shining testimony to the Bible Verse … The last will be first and the first will be last.
Even though he has nothing according to the worlds standard.. He has everything with JESUS.
He has a wonderful smile, sense of humor and was trying to help us.
It is amazing that he still strives each and everyday to reach his goal of learning English and becoming a teacher, despite his circumstances.
We connected him with the local pastor we were working with and we all walked down less than a mile to the church she leads.
We went up to Rubbish Mountain to minister to other people and met a man whose life was a ministry, testimony and encouragement to us.
Please add him to your prayer requests and prayer chains. Please pray that he will continue to develop a more intimate relationship with Jesus, GOD and the Holy Spirit. Please pray that he is connected with other believers and a church which will encourage his growth and pour into him. Please pray that GOD keeps him safe from harm. Please pray GOD pours out provision for HIM to be an English Teacher. Please pray his light continues to shine in such a dark place. Please pray anything else that GOD lays on your heart.
Thank you GOD for redeeming SIN and writing his name in the Book of Life. Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross for SIN and all of us other sinners.
Below are pictures which help illustrate the story above.
Welcome to Rubbish Mountain (Place Where Sin Lives and Works).
Below you can see adults and kids searching through the trash to make a living.
Notice the haze and the trash trucks. The smell is horrific.
