I’ve been trying to think of words to write to describe the heart of the great city of Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia

THis is the cutest kid ever… despite the fact he lives in a slum right next to the land fill and there
is trash, disease and sadness all around. He is always so happy… what an inspiraition
HE reminds me that I should never complain..
Can you imagine your house and family living in a community surrounded by the city dump and trash.

THe smell and infestation of flies is overwhelming….
Welcome to the Rubbish Mountain community of Phom Penh where over 200 families live and work.
THe families including children work 7 days per week picking trash as their living.
The average pay is $2 per day for over 10 hours of work.

Common Mode of Transportation is a Tuk Tuk which is a motorcycle with a seating wagon attached
My team takes this Tuk Tuk to Rubbish Mountain everday.
Another Common Mode of Transportation is Motorcycles. They are everywhere.
IT is not unusual to see a whole family husband, wife and couple kids on a moto or
to see 4 grown men on a little motorcycle.
It is also not uncommon to see people with surgical masks to limit the amount of pollution and smog you inhale.
THis was one of my favorite days of ministry. THe church we are partnering with also
runs a clinic on Saturdays where families in Rubbish Mountain can see a nurse and
receive medicine for free. We washed and combed the kids hair and cut their nails
while the kids and parents waited to be seen by the nurse
It was so much fun. Below is the shampoo and combing assembly line. . we loved it

This warmed my heart. THis reminded me that CHurch is not the building but the body of believers.
THis was a small church in a rundown building but so full of GOD’s love and joy and fellowship.
THere is a blind Christian man in the Rubbish Mountain community (in the green shorts in the picture above)
He bought his cousin to church who is also a Christian and also blind. (in the red shirt in the picture above)
The man sang a wonderful song to GOD which was full of pure joy and admiration for GOD….
He could complain about lif enot being fair but he chose to praise GOD with a joyful heart instead.
