I am sitting in the Internet Cafe with a smile on my face thinking about how wonderful my Mother’s Day was. I miss my mom very much and I wish I could have spent Mother’s day with her but that is hard to do when I am in Thailand.
God bless me to spend Mother’s day with an inspirational group of mothers.
Through GOD’s faithfulness, these ladies have been transformed from women who work at bars to women who now make jewlery, chocolates and cookies. Some of these women have even become Christians which is amazing in a country that is close to 90% Buddhist. Each one of these ladies stories is an amazing one. My team was honored to be able to serve them with a Mother’s Day dinner of homemade cheeseburgers, lays original chips and homemade brownies from the Betty Crocker Box. We also watched the movie Ferris Beuler’s day off .
These women have taken us under their wings and treated us like their own daugthers ( which means so much when you are away from your own mom for one year) They make sure we sleep well, eat and shower us with hugs. To look at these women now you would never know their past struggles and that some of them used to work in the sex industry. Society may label them as former bar girls or former prostitues but I see them as they are. They are mothers, sisters, aunts, hard working employees, upstanding citiens of society and women with huge heart. I look at them and I see my own mom, women full of love, stregnth, compassion, God’s love and motherly love. They are a living testimony to how GOD can transform your life if you are willing to allow Him to.
This last part of the blog is about my mom.
My mom is the most loving, caring, driven and compassionate woman I have ever met. She is a great cook and extremely funny. She has supported me in everything I ever wanted to do (even if she did not always agree which is amazing in itself). She has filled my life with uncoonditional love and support. She raised me in the Church but more importantly showed me how a personal relationship wth Jesus can fill your life with an ABUNDANCE of joy and miracles. Mom I love you and miss you.
Mom I love you and I pray that one day I will be half the woman you are.
