hola famlia && amigos y amigas! (practicing my spanish)
so today was the first day of ministry…we left the hostel around 9 and took a VERY bumpy bus ride to the orphange/school we will be partnering with for this next month…
we had a tour of the amazing campus and got to see some beautiful kids running around..and some dogs haha
after the tour we headed to Casa Maria (Grandpa's House) which is an old folks home…
these elderly people either have NO family or their families abandoned them..and as soon as we walked in all you could see were their gums from smiling so big!! they were absolutely precious people…
we met very many different personalities and heard lots of stories..which half the time i had no idea what they were saying i just went along with it like i knew every word and understood…
we played card games and Carlos kept putting the cards in his pocket for a later game im guessing so my deck is a missing some cards lol
there was one sweet lady she was 85 and she would just laugh and hold your hand and tell you how thankful she was to have us there and how we just made her so happy..
Julio was so sweet && he was so FUNNY!! he would tell us all these things but he would sing it and at the end he would hold out a note..like opera style and we would just sit there and laugh and clap..by the end we were all singing out of key and high pitched right along with him..he grabbed my hand and twirled me around a couple of times..i have to say he has some mad dancing skills haha..
there was also a lady named Gloria that never went to school so she couldnt read or write..my teammate brian and i read her the bible in some of the most broken spanish i have ever heard haha but she went along with it so that was a good thing!!
those people touched my heart..there was one guy there that was 103!! just the life and love they have and they have so little!! it was such a blessing to be apart of their lives for the day!! here are some pictures of my new friends 🙂
