Everyone cares about their image and Thai people aren’t any different- they all want cool new technology to put in their homes to make them look and feel good. As you may know, prices are usually a lot cheaper overseas. Computers for instance are about $100 less. Ipods are also usually a lot cheaper here, unfortunately sometimes when you take them back to America they stop working. Something that everyone really wants though is a television, especially the cool flat-screens. I just looked it up and Best Buy sells most of theirs for between $500-$1,500 depending on the size and quality. This is the craziest price difference though, they are ridiculously cheap over here, you should seriously check it out… you can trade in a brand new flat screen tv… for your daughter.
Just sell her to a bar or a pimp for a year or two to work off the debt.
A lot of the girls that are stuck in the bars down here come from the Northeast, which in general is a lot poorer than the Southern parts of the country. Sometimes parents send their daughters down here to work at the bars and earn money to send back home. Sometimes parents trade their daughters for things they need, or things they want. Sometimes girls just get caught up in the industry because they don’t know what other options are available to them. We’re going out into the bars 2-3 nights a week and meeting women and treating them like what and who they are- women. They aren’t cattle, they aren’t currency and they aren’t hopeless. They are God’s adored, chosen and beloved daughters.
