Disclaimer #1: A lot of the thoughts from part 1 are stolen from/ inspired by my teammate Jessica Keown, because she is awesome. Visit her blog at http://jessicakeown.theworldrace.org
This morning we looked at the story of David and Goliath and Jessica pointed out that God never called David to kill Goliath. He didn’t speak from a burning bush or make the ground shake or any other big thing. David was simply so in love with God and so dedicated to Him that when he saw someone defying and disrespecting God’s Name David’s only option was to defend Him- His beloved Father and LORD.
It reminds me of 2 Cortinthians 5:14-15, which says, “14For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that One died for all, and therefore all died. 15 And He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again”
This is a scripture I memorized years ago, that I can quote backwards and forwards, and that a lot of you reading this blog might know as well. If you don’t know the scripture then you know the general idea it conveys- because of Who Jesus is and was, and what He has done and is doing in our lives, we should be compelled to act. To love people as He did, to serve people as He did and to live as He did- all for God.
Are we?
When we look at our lives does it really remind us of Christ? Does it remind us of the lives of the people in the Bible? Are we living their levels of faith and boldness? Why or why not? Do we know God well enough and are we so in love with Him that we are compelled to act? If the answer is no, does it bother us? What are we measuring our lives by?
Disclaimer #2: The second part of this blog has nothing to do with the first.
