Tonight at my church’s school of ministry I asked God to show me a picture of His love for me and this is the vision I got…

I saw myself standing in the middle of an endless desert with a whirlwind of sand blowing around me. At first the Jew in me was reminded of God’s promise to Abraham: that his descendants would be as numerous as the grains of sand on the sea shore… and then I started thinking about the sea.

When you go to the beach you invariably leave covered in sand. You do your best to leave as much of it as you can behind by brushing yourself off, knocking off your shoes, hosing down and taking a shower. But no matter what you do you're going to be finding little grains of sand scattered around your life for the next few days. They get in your car, your bed, your kitchen- everywhere you go.

That’s how God’s love is. When we enter into His Presence His love swirls around us and attaches to our bodies like little grains of sand, and when we leave we carry bits of it with us everywhere we go.  Intentionally, we usually spend a few moments or hours with Him during the day and then we stand up, dust ourselves off, and go about our lives.  But His presence and His love lingers on us, and even though we aren’t aware of it, every step we take sends a few grains of His love spilling to the floor, and flying into the air, and landing on the people around us.

That’s probably the best way I can describe my experience at training camp this past week.  A group of people showed up to encounter God in an intimate and personal way, and after each talk, worship session and meeting we left covered in little grains of Holy Spirit, and with every step we took we sent a cloud of Him showering onto the people around us. I left each hour covered in supernatural love and peace. I learned so much from the people I was surrounded by this week… about life, God, healing, hurts, vulnerability and most of all Love.

I never understood the blogs people would write about leaving training camp surrounded by a new family… but now I’ve become one of those people. Because this time around I let my walls down, I kept my eyes open and I let love in.

One of my favorite quotes is "you can’t encounter God and leave unchanged."  This week we usually weren’t even intentional about pouring His Love out on the people around us, it just happened naturally because that is who He is and what He does.  I can’t wait to find out our official launch date so that I can begin a count down for the day I get to see my squad again- and we get to begin intentionally pouring out God’s love on every person we encounter this year.
