This is probably the only time I will have internet this month, so, quick overview of the past few weeks?

  • We have officially hit six countries in our first three months (Guatemala, el Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama)
  • Our first day of ministry we were praying for God to direct our steps when our pastor came in and asked us to pray for his good friend whose wife suddenly passed away during the night.  So 20 of us piled into two vehicles and went to the man’s house. We spent some time praying over the man and his family and his home. Then Brooks pulled out the guitar and we all started worshipping together.  It was emotional and intense to say the least.
  • The new church/our new home is almost fixed up- we have leveled out the ground outside, cleared all the trash, painted the building inside and out, created a walkway to the bathroom/shower as well as a back porch and fixed most of the holes in the floor and as soon as they get the water working we are moving in.
  • The girls on my team have started building a relationship with a woman down the street from the church- she is about 80 years old and lost her arm in the last hurricane.  She has asked us to come by everyday and visit with her and is just one of the sweetest women I have ever met.
  • I have officially developed a strong southern accent from my squad mates
  • Someone called me a “ging” the other day because my hair is apparently turning red-ish in the sun. (Bentli, if you´re reading this, it was an honor)
  • Our current home is, well, a chicken coup beside the pastor’s house.
  • I woke up in a daze this morning after being kept awake all night by barking dogs, semi trucks and roosters crowing and tried to make my way to the bathroom… the animals however had other ideas… they thought I was there to feed them and they got so excited that they attacked. Yes attacked. About 30 big, fat, dirty, scary, loud hens, roosters and giant turkeys chased me around the poo infested gravel pit pecking and squawking at my heels- that will wake you up even faster than a bucket shower.

The Evil King Turkey that attacked me… this is his flattering, skinny side
