So today I had a lunch meeting at McAllister's before I had to head to work. About 1:40 rolls around, and I left for work and said goodbye to the two that I was eating with, one of them being Megan Bland! Holla! I went to work thinking that I was going to be working for the next 5 hours and then found out that the person I work with on Mondays and Wednesdays was sick. Poor guy! I was very happy to be off for the day though. My car was wayyyyyy empty on gas and I knew I needed to fill up so I took a drive to the gas station! (because that's what you do when you need gas..). While I was pumping gas, a Chinese dude (for real, he's from China) comes up to me and I knew he was about to ask for directions. He just had that look like "I am lost as ever and I need to talk to this American girl really bad so I can find out where I am going but I'm not going to be able to understand her too well but I'll give this a shot anyways…here goes" haha. So he comes up and I did not understand him at first, but luckily I have to try to figure out what the people I work with are saying alot of the times because some of them either can't really talk or they have their own private language so I've gotten really good at deciphering this kind of stuff! I eventually figure out that he's saying "Bank of America" and was asking for directions. He had pretty good English, but he had a hard time pronouncing his words. I asked him if he had a car of if he was walking because I was going to try to give him the quickest, easiest directions. And so I gave him directions, he said "thank you," and walks off, still looking a little confused. And then I was like why in the world am I making those poor people walk when I have a (almost) perfectly reliable car that can drive them to the BoA! So I yelled out "hey!" and offered them a ride. I found out their names were Shing, Jude, and something else from China and they work at the new Hibachi restaurant near Lowes I think and I told them that if they killed me I was going to report all their names to the police! (joke) They were very grateful that I took them to BoA! Although I forgot to give the girl directions to the mall.
The point of this random, but totally fun and awkward story is that the World Race for me does not start in July. The world race starts NOW! I don't have to start ministering to people in July because that's a set date. I can do it now, right here, in Wilmington, NC! And who cares that I had 3 people I didn't know in my car. You meet people every day and I feel like we all have this idea in our head that if we don't know them personally, then we don't help them because they could be dangerous. This is not the case all the time! All these 3 young people were looking for was a ride and I had the means to give it to them, so why not? It's just a drive to the bank! What can YOU do for someone today?
James 2:14 :: Dear brothers, what's the use of saying that you have faith and are Christians if you aren't proving it by helping others? Will that kind of faith save anyone?
