We got the chance to really talk to our contact our first night here, he truly is a blessed man. Several years ago the Lord laid it on his heart to get involved with putting an end to human trafficking. What our contact does is he specializes in prevention. Before just diving into it and opening up a home and start pulling women out, he did some research. He found that most women and children who get sold into the “sex trade” and get pulled out of it most often get right back into it.
He found out that if he were to spend the amount of money it would take to get one woman out of this “industry” he could house and take care of and prevent the selling of several children who are at risk of being sold into that life. Not only that but the one woman he would get out would just be replaced by “several” more! The Lord has truly blessed this man and what he is doing. He now has several homes set up all across Asia that look into children who are at risk of being sold and talk to the families. They give the children a home an education and teach them all a trade. They give these children who were once at risk of being sold into the “sex trade”, a future. It is truly remarkable what he is doing.
He feels that, and I agree, to stop this sick and twisted industry we need to cut off the “supply” so to speak. That if we get to the children and women before they do we can bring this to an end. He explained it by way of analogy:
A man was walking along the shores of a river. As he was walking he saw a baby floating in the water. The man went in and pulled the child out. A woman had approached and saw all that was taking place. After pulling the child out the man noticed another child floating in the water, so again he went in after the child. After bringing 20 or so children out of the water the man stopped and left. Later the woman saw him and asked “Where did you go there were still children floating by?” the man replied “I went to the mouth of the river to find out how all these children were getting into the water!”
The idea being that he could spend all day pulling those children out, but unless he could stop them before getting in they would just keep coming. Our contact and his team have methods in which they asses which children are at risk. Ultimately it is up to the parents or grandparents. We heard a story of a girl who had become a Christian. She was threatened by her grandmother to stop going to church or she would sell her. Ultimately she was sold to a man for sex. That same grandmother also sold the girl’s mother and aunt as well. The girl was sold for about six hundred dollars which is about a year’s salary to them. Poverty and desperation drive these people to do these things. I am pleased however to say that the girl was found is now out of what she was sold into and has since gone back to her grandmother forgave her and led her grandmother to Christ.
There are many sad stories like this all over Asia. The work will be doing is construction for one of the homes that girls like this will be living in. We have had the joy of meeting these very special children. After being brought to the home most of them depending upon their age are made aware of why. It is truly heart breaking when you know that a little girl is sold into an industry where she may be raped fifteen to twenty times A DAY!!!!! This ministry is truly a God send to these children. Prevention, is a big part to the solution of this grossly growing problem. Please be praying over these children and this on going problem. Pray that it be brought to an end. Please be praying for myself as well as I am in need of continued support. So that I may be able to continue working with people like our contact and show people the love of Christ that I have been so blessed to find. Thank you all and God bless.
