My last two blog entries, Lessons from the Road (part one) and (part two) were meant to be a piece about what I am learning myself and not to be taken as an entire theology. But I do want to add a thing or two in order to clean up any possible confusion. I write, or at least intend to write, everything in love. I never want to come across as condemming others or putting myself up higher on a pedastal. I wrote the last blogs to encourage others who are thinking that going to church is all their is to their relationship with God. It is not meant to discourage anyone who has never gone on a ¨mission trip.¨ I forgot to include in this blog one of the most important things I believe I have learned. GOD LOVES ME! That is first and foremost. Everything else is secondary. The only way that ministry works is based off one´s personal relationship with the Father. If we are not fully resting in God´s love for us, then our ministry is coming from ourselves. Ministry is intended to be an overflow, that means that because God loves me so much, I can do nothing else but serve Him. And my love for others is truly just an overflow of God´s love that I am experiencing. ¨Stepping out of the boat¨ as I wrote about, is not about trying to win God´s love or attention, its about letting His love for you become more real than it has ever been before. God´s love for us is so HUGE that we cannot ever comprehend it. But to taste it throughout our lifetime is the most beautiful thing I can think of. He is like honey on our lips. He wants us to drink from the river of His delights! And Abba Father is Oh So Satisfying!
