What is Zealous Love?
I know it was my original team name but it is much more than a name…..Starting on this journey called the World Race I had no idea the implications a name can have on a community. After reflecting and rejoicing on all the crazy times God lead the team through it started to sink in what Zealous Love actually means. The awesome thing about it is each and every person on the team brought a new aspect of love and embraced other forms of love!
Lauren a humbled servant leader! She was ready to say “yes” to ANYTHING even before she knew all the details. Before the team ever realized it we were serving the squad or our ministry host in ways we didn’t know, all because she said YES. Even in day to day activities/chores/responsibilities she had it covered. Modeling what it actually means to put others before herself.
Brittany a bundle of joy! She just flat out loved to love through everything! No matter the circumstance she had a knack of finding joy and laughter in anything. Seeing how even the smallest things brought immense joy was refreshing. To live in such abundance and able to pour out so freely brought an unique alive presence to everyone.
Katherine a fountain of knowledge. Her depth of knowing Biblical context is simply amazing. Provides background and insights into the culture of when books of the Bible were written that makes the story come to life. The imaginary sets the tone and allows you realize the significance of some stories that otherwise wouldn’t seem important. It was a blessing to experience her enthusiasm for knowing the Bible more, and digging in deep day in and day out.
Carley a comfortable listening ear. Carley has this unique presence about her, especially when you sit down and talk to her. Shortly after you do that you find yourself talking about areas of your life you never thought you would. Not only does Carley listen extremely well, but she also provides wisdom in those areas too. It was awesome watching Carley love on people at the cafe by just sitting and listening.
Gina a spring of life. Her desire to go beneath the surface of friendships and explore new depths. God has instilled in her a passion for more. That it is okay to ask the deep questions and discover what is truly going on in someone’s life. To speak truth into areas that most people shy away from ever talking about. She definitely brought a new dimension to all of our conversations and ministry opportunities.
Logan a chameleon to anyone. He has this crazy ability to relate with anyone. He draws out other people stories and can always find a way to relate his past, hobbies, or interests in a way that forms an instant bond. And just like a chameleon can look in two directions at once; Logan can also look into someone’s life while also looking at how God wants to use him in that moment.
Yes there is far more aspects to each and every person apart of Zealous Love. Each person reveals another facet of God’s character. What made it all come together so beautifully is our daily decision to choose each other. Zealous Love is more than ambitious name but rather a lifestyle choice. Everyday you have the option to choose the people around you and discover another glimpse of God’s character.
God has placed the people in your life for a purpose. It’s up to you to choose to love them zealously.
