The World Race is all about sharing the Gospel, loving people like Christ loves us, healing people, and serving others. In order to do that effectively you need to be open to change and removing expectations!
Change is important because that creates opportunity for you to grow! Through change you learn a lot about yourself from insecurities, comfort zones, handling the unknown, and how to evolve your walk with Jesus. If change doesn’t happen then routines become ingrained and over time you become less adapt to change.
Everyone has expectations about everything! Let’s face it we all have or had expectations of our first job, first house, first week of college, next vacation, etc….and inevitably something happens and our experience doesn’t match our expectations! When this happens it creates a change in our lives and allows us the opportunity to grow. In every situation we choose how we want to respond whether positively or negatively….the choice is yours.
At training camp I experienced a lot of change and expectations were shattered!
One huge change that happened is our route! Originally the route was Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, China, Cambodia, Thailand, India, and Nepal! Knowing this route I created a lot of expectations for 2014…I would go to Kenya/Uganda to see children I sponsor, Rwanda to serve with Machine Gun preacher, India to serve with national missionaries, etc. I created expectations about what I wanted to experience and how I was going to experience it! This change humbled me to realize even though those are great things, that God has something better in store!
To reveal His greater plans, He changed the route and removed my expectations!
The new route will be Zambia, Malawi, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, China, Mongolia, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and Nepal! (Bold ones are new)
Yes, I am human and new expectations will be formed but through His plan and His vision! Before they announced the new route I know I haven’t heard of Zambia or Malawi since 6th grade geography class. This change created the opportunity for me to grow outside of my comfort zone and embrace God’s plan for this new route!
Be Bold in embracing opportunities for change whether it be in your career, how you serve, how you pursue your spouse, or God’s calling for your life!
Be Intentional in seeking the positives from the change and aligning yourself with His vision!
