Do you believe that hope changes everything?
How does a dream become a reality?
One of my favorite things about the race is hearing stories of how ministries go from a dream to reality! It is truly remarkable to hear about the courage, faith, vision, provision, and hope that surrounds every ministry place that I have served alongside.
Running after what God has laid on your heart to do is a scary proposition, and it won’t be easy. There’s nothing cush about being on the front lines of daily encounters with people that are far from God and tangled in a mess of sin; trapped in circumstances that no one ever dreams about growing up in; and their lives could be a plotline for the next horror film. The sad thing is you can find people in these circumstances in EVERY community; as long as you ask God to open your eyes to see people as He sees them.
Four years ago, a vision was pressed upon a lady serving in Vietnam to help women that have been rescued from prostitution. Immediately she took action; doing day long prayer walks through the red light district weekly, and came back at night regularly to do more praying. Through her weekly habit of spending intentional time in this area, the locals started to notice her and conversations flowed. Vietnam is a closed country and it’s illegal to openly share about Jesus unless the local asks directly. Also to note in Vietnam…..prostitution is technically illegal too but the authorities have no problem taking a loaded handshake and looking the other way.
During this time of praying, she felt like there was still more to be done which birthed the Home of Hope! Over 4 years of praying, hoping, and believing in opening a home for women that have been rescued from prostitution is now less than a month from opening its door! A home built on prayers and hope; designed to restore hope to women that have lived in hopeless situations. The sheer amount of faith this lady has for this home is ridiculous. Below is a picture of the beautiful Home of Hope, located outside of Ho Chi Minh city in a nice quiet neighborhood! There is a website that is under construction at http://hopeunending.org/; hoping that it is fit to go live within a week or two!
Dreams become reality when you humble yourself to pray it into existence, and take steps of faith.
The hope of this lady to see lives restored is going to change EVERYTHING in their lives! Providing a safe loving home to help restore them physically, mentally, and emotionally!
What I takeaway from stories like this is I know I will have the same opportunity to take a step of faith after I have completed the G42 Leadership training. God will continue to show me the area He desires to use me, G42 will further equip me in the “how to” aspect; and with continued support from friends, and family….my dream will become a reality as well.
CELEBRATE I am half way funded for my first semester at G42, with over $1,500 raised! I still need to raise another $1,500 by January 6th, 2015 to cover the expenses of my first semester! Thank you!
