Among the mountains of Lesotho, in a valley called the Malealea is a church. This church is built up from locals from different villages in the area. There is something about the people in this church that has amazed me; it is their faith. These people will walk up to two hours to get to church every Sunday and then another two hours back. These people want to attend and that is seen by the commitment they make every week.
Let me tell you about this valley and the people in it.
The Malealea Valley is probably the most beautiful place I have ever been too. Filled with mountains and valleys, the views are breathtaking and offer the constant reminder of God’s majesty in creation.
It is a whole different world.
I fell asleep gazing at the Milky Way stretching across the night sky and woke up to the sun rising above the distant mountains leaving me in awe of our Creator.
People live very simply here. They will raise their own crops and cattle and work hard with their hands. They ride horses and donkeys and fetch water at a pump.
They live in very modest clay building and huts some made with bamboo roof.
These people do not have much; in fact they are experiencing a severe drought killing a lot of their crops and cattle. They are struggling to survive. This reality however does not keep them from serving others.
Impacting the Nations
Every Sunday they have an offering for missionaries around the world. These people are giving despite their hardships because they know Who they serve as well as the value of serving others. Who knew what a small community could accomplish by being selfless and choosing to trust a God who provides. From China to Europe, they are helping advance the Kingdom of God.
This is what Jesus calls faith.
When the widow gave two small coins, He said that she had given the most because when everyone gave out of their abundance she gave all that she had.
There are many lessons to be learned from theses people.
How dedicated are we to meet with the body of Christ and worship God as a Church? Are we giving to God out of our abundance or are we giving abundantly?
There is a revival taking place, let us be a part of it.
During my time there, I had the privilege of leading a 70 year old woman to the Lord. She had never heard of Jesus and was very curious about this Jesus I was talking about. She then decided that she wanted to live the rest of her live for the One who saved her.
This wouldn’t have been possible without your generous support and your partnership in reaching the lost. Thank you for helping me share Christ with that woman.
