What’s up guys!
I’m Eric, and I just wanted to take this opportunity to share a little bit about myself to give those of you whom I have never met a glimpse of who I am, and those who do know me, an opportunity to perhaps learn something new!
I am a 27-year-old who is currently serving in the US Air Force, but I will be taking a 16-month sabbatical from the military in order to go on the World Race, then returning back onto active duty shortly after I return back to the good ‘ol US of A. I feel strongly like the military is where God has called me…not your typical mission field, to be sure, but one that needs His light just as much as anywhere else in the world, so I feel like I will be wearing the uniform for quite a while.
A little background info on me:
– I grew up in Minnesota my whole life until I went off to college in Colorado Springs, so it’s safe to say that Winter is my favorite season
– I am the middle child in our family, sandwiched between my two wonderful sisters
– I enjoy playing any and all sports, working out is also a favorite pastime of mine
– I love reading, especially books that make you think (C.S. Lewis, Tozer, etc.)
– Few things bring me as much joy as a deep conversation over a cup of good coffee
– I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering Management from the Air Force Academy, and now I’m working slowly toward a Master’s in Pastoral Counseling focused on Marriage & Family Counseling from Liberty University
My passion for marriage counseling was born out of the aftermath of two events: the divorce of my parents when I was 17, and going through a seriously unhealthy relationship in my own life (which ultimately brought me back to Christ). After experiencing the impact those two things had on my life, I want to do everything I can to help others walk through the challenges of relationships & marriage and bring restoration to the model we have on earth of Christ’s relationship with His bride, the church.
I am filled with an overwhelming joy and anticipation when I think about the 11 months our team will have the privilege of spending in South America starting in August! God clearly has a reason (or many reasons
) why He has called each one of us on this expedition, and I can’t wait to have my eyes opened to a little more of His heart for us throughout the process! I am especially looking forward to the deep relationships that will be cultivated during our time of living in close, authentic community, and the ways we will be able to challenge each other, encourage each other, and help each other grow as we walk this journey together!!
“Come away with Me, come away with Me,
It’s never too late, it’s not too late, it’s not too late for you.
I have a plan for you, I have a plan for you,
It’s gonna be wild, it’s gonna be great, it’s gonna be full of Me!”
