There is no wifi in the house I am staying in, but there are cafes all around that serve delicious drinks and have free wifi.

I found myself going to the cafes once or twice a day, not for the amazing strawberry smoothies they serve but for the wifi. As a team we have decided that we are going to do no wifi during the week, only on the weekends. At least for a little while.

This blog is my documentation of the wifi fast.

DAY ONE (MONDAY)-No wifi is going great so far. I went to the cafe today and found myself not tempted to run back to the house and get my laptop

DAY TWO (TUESDAY)- It’s a lot harder today. We did a prayer walk through a village and the whole time I found myself wanting the comfort of wifi. I wanted to talk through what I had seen with my mom. Having no wifi means working through it myself and growing more in the word.

DAY THREE (WEDNESDAY)- I wasn’t even slightly tempted to get on wifi today. We spent a lot of time as a team and it was amazing. I was able to talk through everything with them instead of going to my phone and distracting myself

DAY FOUR (THURSDAY)- Today was petty easy. We went on the bamboo train and then out to lunch, and the to a cafe to hang out. I’m proud to say that I wasn’t tempted at all to get on the wifi that was offered. Although I did get on wifi to check my bank account but got off before messages started coming.

DAY FIVE (FRIDAY)-  Today was hard. It was our first day of ministry and it was very challenging for me. When I got home all I wanted to do was text my mom and talk to her

DAY SIX & SEVEN (SATURDAY AND SUNDAY)- We are able to use wifi because it’s a WEEKEND

DAY EIGHT (MONDAY)- Todays the start of week 2 with no wifi, and its going great.

DAY NINE (TUESDAY)- Im not even slightly tempted to get on wifi. Although I was sick so I slept the whole day….

DAY TEN (WEDNESDAY)- Its going good so far. Not even tempted to get on wifi currently, a big part of that is because ministry lasts all day and by the time I get home I just want to eat dinner and then go to bed.

DAY ELEVEN (THURSDAY)- soon I broke it today. I just really wanted to talk to family.

DAY TWELVE (FRIDAY)-  Last day with no wifi. I don’t see myself constantly needing to get on wifi anymore

The wifi fast was something that Jesus was calling me to do, and he brought a lot of things that I have been struggling with to light.

 Like

  • if the tattoo I wanted is the one I should get…( it isn’t)
  • Where I should go to school… (I am no longer considering schools outside of Texas)

And

  • What does he have planned for me the race is over… ( as of right now I feel he is calling me to pour into the youth ministries in New Braunfels and possibly surrounding areas)

The wifi fast has also helped a lot with with my struggle with control, and always wanting to be comfortable. I just had to deal with my struggles by myself or with my team instead of distracting myself with home and social media. Ministry at New Hope School has been so fulfilling that I haven’t turned other places for it.

Thank you all so much for your support. If you don’t mind keeping me and my squad in your prayers as were are traveling to Siem Reap next week for a couple days, I would be so grateful. If you could also keep our ministry hosts and the people of Cambodia that we are ministering to in your prayers that would be great to!
