ONE AMAZING GOD.

I found out that I was going to be a Wyldlife* leader for the Wyldlife Bonanza a couple weeks ago. At first there was only one girl signed up. Eventually that one became three, than seven, then nine, and the day of the trip it became ten girls. I had only met around four of the girls going on the trip, and only knew one of them really well.

I was nervous. I had no clue how cabin time* would end up going. I had no clue what I was going to say to these girls. I was scared that I wouldn’t be able to showing tell them how amazing God is and how much he loves them.

I was the only girl leader for a while too. Once we hit nine girls, my mom and Kate decided they needed to have another leader to be in the cabin with me. My mom asked me a couple days before for my friend Ashley’s number. I had met Ashley on Work Crew last summer. When she said yes to being a leader with me I knew the whole weekend just got 1000 times better.

Saturday, February the 18th came and at 9:15 the first camper showed up. By ten that morning we were all in cars driving to TbarM, which is five minutes from my house. Ashley and I went straight to a leader meeting and they gave us a run down of the weekend. It was packed. They were fitting as much as they could into 24 hours. Paint wars, Gaga ball, swimming, and a dance party, are just a few things that we did. It was a weekend of fun.

The speaker was great. She talked about Jesus calming the storm, sin and Jesus rising from the dead. Cabin time went amazing. The girls seemed to get what she was saying and Jesus provided me with the right words to say. The last cabin time we had were sitting outside because we weren’t allowed back in our cabin. When I asked who had said yes to God that weekend I had goosebumps running up and down my arms. I can’t tell you who said yes or how many said yes, because just like vegas what happens in cabin time stays in cabin time.

This weekend has made me look back to my time in middle school. The three years I spent in middle school were not happy years for me. I went to camp every summer, but I never really opened up till my eighth grade year, and even then I didn’t really. Looking back, I wish I had opened up to my camp counselors at TbarM and my wyldlife leaders. Because this weekend I sat there wishing these girls would open up to me and I realized I did the exact same thing in middle school.

Wyldlife-  wyldlife is Young Life for middle schoolers

Cabin time- after club at camp everyone heads back to their cabins and talk about the talk
