What is the World Race?
The World Race is a Christian mission trip that is 11 months in 11 different countries. In each country we (my squad and I) will partner with local ministries or churches to work in orphanages, work with human trafficking victims, plant churches, or simply just spread the love and hope of Jesus.
Why am I doing the the World Race?
In February 2016, I journaled about yearning to go somewhere new, somewhere where I was needed. I felt like I was not supposed to come home after graduating and do something completely ordinary with my life. I do have a job that is completely out of the ordinary, but my life has become too routine and I still feel that longing for something more. I didn’t know exactly what God wanted me to do, or where he wanted me to be. I have always thought about doing the World Race, but I never thought I would have the opportunity, or the courage to do something so extremely out of my comfort zone. This past summer, I began praying for God to take me out of my comfort zone, and that is exactly what he did. He took a relationship I was so used to and so comfortable in and began to make it uncomfortable. In that process I was breaking and leaning on him so fervently because the Lord knows exactly what I was going through. Not long after that happened I decided to apply for the World Race.
Why do I have to raise so much money?
Fundraising is a long process, but it is what pays for traveling costs, food, lodging, and medical insurance. It is just beginning of this whole journey. Fundraising is an opportunity to connect people to Lord’s ministry and what he is doing in people’s lives all around the world. I have heard that this is one of the bigger challenges while being a part of the World Race. I pray that you(whoever is reading this) will pray with me throughout this fundraising season. I pray that fundraising is not about me, but it is solely about glorifying God.
