Hey! My name is Emmy and I am 18 years old. I am currently finding my way through life with Jesus! I am originally from the beautiful Colorado mountain town of Pagosa Springs. However, I have moved numerous times (I seriously lost count) and have actually lived in a total of 6 states (including Alaska, Colorado, and Hawaii). I have also made it my goal to visit all 50 states before my 18th birthday and only have one state to go: Michigan! So needless to say, I travel and I love it!
I am the youngest of four and my parents are first generation Christians. What this means is that I got to watch them learn and grow, fail and succeed, and make it through tough times with only the voice of Jesus guiding them. I watched them follow God in such a way that if God didn’t come through, our family would be in trouble. But through their walk in faith, I was able to build my own unique relationship with Jesus from a young age. They really are the best parents so be prepared to hear about them (and the rest of my crazy family) in future posts.
Now, more about my personality… I may be 18, but I have the soul of a old lady. My hobbies are crocheting, knitting, and sewing all while having a delicious cup of tea! These small things just make my heart happy! But I also have hobbies on the other end of the spectrum….hiking, backpacking, camping, kayaking or anything else that will allow me to explore nature. I am always up for a new adventure as long as there is promise of food and a cold refreshing beverage afterwards.
My biggest passion is getting to know people’s stories. Not just the surface level stuff. I want to know the real stuff. I want to have conversations that dig deep into how life has made us who we are, and how God has moved through our lives even if we aren’t aware of His movement! I truly feel that is my calling at this moment… to build relationships, hear people’s stories and allowing God to do His work through that. I want to know my Heavenly gifts and I want to use them and use them well. What better way to do that than with a backpack on the mission field for 9 months with perfect strangers!
Welcome to the journey!
