Is World Race that show on TV?
No that is amazing race. Which honestly I have never watched. But World Race Gap Year is a 9 month mission trip to which I will be going to 4 countries Costa Rica, South Africa, Thailand, and Myanmar. Serving and sharing the love of Jesus.
What are you going to be doing?
It depends where we will be and what ministry’s we partner with. It can range from teaching at a school, playing soccer with kids, painting a building, and even working on a farm. Really it isn’t about what we are doing but why we are doing it. We are going to share the love of Jesus. We are going to build relationships and serve the people around us. We are going to be disciples of Jesus listening to God. With God who know what exactly we will do 😉
Where will you be staying?
Again it depends on where we are. We can be sleeping in our tents outside, accompanying at a halfway house, staying with a host family, or even just my sleeping pad.
Do you have training for World Race?
Yes I am going to training camp July 10-20 in Georgia through Adventure in Missions. During this time I will be meeting my teammates and we will be trained physically (hike 3 miles in 15 minutes), spiritually (how to partner with God to establish His Kingdom on Earth), and emotionally (come on over 100 degrees heat, humidity, and stretching yourself of course there will be emotions). We will be trained on stuff like how to take bucket showers, having a sleeping in a airport simulation, packing you bag right, finding alone time, growing your relationship with God, and of course how to share the relationship with others. Plus God is amazing and is already teaching me so much right now.
What does the fundraising money cover?
The funds raised will cover the costs on the trip including food, lodging, air, land, and sea travels. Plus all the other small important things needed throughout 9 months of life.
What is your biggest worry about going into World Race?
Being away from my family and my dog. Besides God my family is my support they have just always been there. So not having that support right there when ever I need it does worry me.
Are you really living out of a backpack for 9 months?
Yes! I have a 44+10 L backpack and a day-pack that will hold all my belongings through out the trip.
Feel free to ask any other questions you have. I have never been on the World Race so I still have questions myself but follow this Blog as we start this experience.
