Sandy, Sandra Dee, Sandita, Sandy Baby

Sandy is someone I never thought would be on my team, but I am so thankful that God put us together. I got to learn a lot about Sandy as we sat and talked under the canopy of p-ville. She told me about her family life, her home country, and what brought her on the Race. She seemed a little reserved but open to share at the same time.

This theme of contradictions is something I’ve come to love and appreciate about our Sandita. She is quiet yet loud. She is bold yet shy. She is, as she calls herself, an extroverted introvert. Sandy is not confined by one definition, and I love all the weirdness that comes from her rebel heart. The best word I could use to describe Sandy over these past four months is growth. Dang, this girl is a fighter for her own growth as she swallows hard truths and presses into the realization of what it means to follow our Lord. I’m immensely proud of her and proud to know her.

I love that Sandy chose these three words as her identifiers, as she knows that the children of God are called to being set apart and, frankly, weird. Hopefully these photos help give you an image of all the weirdness inside and outside this chica.
