“I used to think you had to be special for God to use you, but now I know you simply need to say yes.” -Bob Goff

My name is Emma Swanson and I am no writer, let alone blogger, but I simply could not wait to tell you what my life is going to look like later THIS year. After a lot of talking to Jesus and my parents, I have decided to take a gap year. During this said gap year I will be traveling and serving in five different countries through Adventures in Missions World Race Gap Year–completely throwing out my normal comfy rhythm of life (you know, going to school, drinking coffee ten times a day, watching Grey’s Anatomy cozy on my young life leader’s couch).

I am thrilled to say that I will be going to Nicaragua, India, Nepal, Swaziland, and Lesotho with about 55 other people. My team and I will be serving in a variety of ways such as working in AIDS orphanages, teaching English, planting churches, feeding victims of natural disasters, and ministering to those trapped in prostitution due to human trafficking…all while preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. I feel excited, worried, and nervous to be leaving my home, family, and friends. I would not be able to do any of this without their constant love and support.

Honestly, I feel all of the emotions. Everyday. 100% of the time.

But the Lord is good. He wrote missions on my heart a long time ago, and even just thinking about spreading the light and love of the gospel in a place I have never been makes my heart beat hard, and I could not be more thankful for this call on my life.

“God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called.” and I have no doubt of this. I humbly ask if you would consider partnering with me in prayer- that each step I take is in the direction that the Lord wants me to take. And of course, I am in need of financial support as well. I must raise nearly 15,000 dollars to make this crazy World Race thing happen. Trust me, this number has been freaking me out a lot. It has made me question whether or not this is what I am really suppose to do. Yet He is still good; and I am just saying yes. I am keeping my hands and my heart wide open because this is what He has called me to do! This money will cover all of my expenses while in the field (housing, travel, insurance, food, and all other needs). While this number is huge, each and every single dollar is being raised so that people across the nations may be served and loved as He loved.

By praying for me and/or giving financially YOU are becoming apart of this adventure with me! I am so thankful for the ways you all have served me already!! PLEASE reach out to me if you have any questions, I love talking about this!

All my love,

Emma
