Helloooo my friends!
The reason its been a hot second since my last blog is because I was struggling a bit with the right things to say. I told y’all about my schedule and that’s basically what we’ve been doing everyday. But not mentioning the sweetness that comes out of each day individually seems a little selfish. So below is a little bit of a highlight reel. The “happies” of each day since my last blog.
10/14 found an adventure and hiked to a waterfall. 8 miles later, Jordan and I bought carrot cake and French press coffee at the coffee shop in the Malealea lodge. Twice.
10/15 Church starts in the morning and ends in the afternoon! Found extra cocoa powder and made homemade mochas in the afternoon.
10/16 Weeding our new friend Albert’s garden and (even though I’m allergic) holding very very tiny kittens. Our cook, Mama Faith’s daughter Kuna saw me sitting on the ground early in the morning and sat on my lap. We’re friends.
10/17 Thought about the book Till We have Faces by C.S. Lewis while moving rocks all morning long. And met a man who has a passion for the younger generation of Lesotho and reading. He showed us his library and how he keeps the kids reading everyday!
10/18 Cleaned some cattle’s “room” and fed some cows/horses. Prayed and spent time with an older lady because her only daughter died. This is real life.
10/19 My water bottle smelled like a fish tank today. This is also real life.
10/20 Rode in a taxi for three hours to go to the mall where we proceeded to eat French toast, pancakes, and pizza. I got to talk to a guy named Moses who worked in a book store & prayed that the Lord would send him community and let him work in politics if that be His will. Our ministry isn’t confined by schedules.
10/21 Hung out at the lodge with Jordan and Rachel and bought some wifi which allowed me to talk to my bestie and my brother.
10/22 Sunday! A few teammates gave the sermon and we got to all sing a lot of songs.
10/23 High chance of rain so we didn’t go to our village, instead spent time in the lodge reading.
10/24 Katie’s birthday so our host family made two chocolate cakes! My hands blistered because we shucked corn for 2 and a half hours. Jordan cut off her own hair!
10/25 Watered a huge garden farm thing and planted peach trees! How did planting peach trees turn into talking about why being a Christian is important? I don’t know but I’m sure glad that it did.
10/26 Had to go back to the Maseru (the city) for ATMs. Bought a tub of chocolate ice cream and smooshed some Oreos to go on top. It was very good.
10/27 Had some alone time to watch a movie and rest before some friends living in the city came for a visit!
So there’s a little peak into JUST A FEW of the sweet things that have happened daily over the past few weeks.. Lesotho has absolutely stolen my heart and it’s going to be a very hard goodbye. (I think we leave on the 6th of November!) Working with the people here and loving on the people we get to serve with has been so good and has looked so different everyday. I am sure I’m living my best life.
Pictures to Facebook very soon!!
Real talk, I am still over 4,000 dollars from being fully funded- this is scary for me as I deeply want to continue serving on the World Race! Please consider praying about partnering with me on this crazy adventure! I am so confident that He will provide in His perfect timing! I’m thankful daily to have been placed exactly where I am. 🙂
So much love,
Em
PRAYER REQUESTS: For my team, that we will continue to grow together well and love each other intentionally! And for saying goodbye to Lesotho. It’s going to be hard to rip these ties 🙁
