Ahaha I have had so many people that have been asking to see some, and so the past week I have been rlly intentional about taking them AND NOW I GET TO SHARE WITH EVERYONE AT ONCE YAAAYYY TECHNOLOGY! Below I have included a bunch of random photos that kindaaaa sum up my time here so far- with captions!! The captions are underneath each pic. (Shoutout to my yearbook teacher and staff, this blog would be mediocre without you people. Go vikings forever! ) But yeah, get excited! Here they are!

This is our humble abode! At the beginning of the month we had like 50 people in this thang. (MISS YOU JOBURG BABIES) The bottom floor is the kitchen, the middle floor is the living room, and upstairs we have beds! Also, funny story, I took this photo while one of my squadmates was taking photos of me and LOOK AT EVERYONE LOOKING OUTSIDE WATCHING ME TAKE PICTURES HAHAHA- I was getting that hyyypppeeee. Love my people.
This is a photo of ministry! Been having the opportunity to go into the townships and serve the children there. We get to go into their homes and carry kiddos to the soup kitchen (which is actually like a moving pod and two pots full of ramen- we love it) BUT YES, sorry there are not many of these kinds of photos. I know sometimes it can seem like I am just on vacation! But the reality is this is what my everyday looks like and I only take my phone places that it is appropriate to have it and be taking photos. This is why I am here. This is the real World Race. Also I blurred out their eyes to protect their identity and respect them/their parents!
We had a week of rest at the end of month one called “debrief” and we went to Pretoria for that! One of the days me and some friends went to a wildlife reserve and saw zebras, an ostrich, and even some giraffes! They let us get really close to them as shown in the photo. Something not pictured is me almost SWALLOWING A FLY. Somehow it managed to bump into the hat I was wearing and go in my mouth. Spit that guy out SO FAST. All I could think about was the fact that that fly was probably on the animals- and their poop. ICK. Anyways the day was fun…minus the unwanted snack.
This photo lights my HEART UP. These are my gaaaalllsss! One day our ministry host surprised us and took us to this watering hole and let us cliff jump! I wish I could say I was cool enough to do that but I really just enjoyed quality time with my SICS! (Sisters in Christ- we use that term A LOT around here)
This is just a sweet photo of me and Emily at church! We had some extra time before service and Sam brought her camera and captured some photos. Fun fact about this duo? We have the same birthday. January 10th babies!
Above I mentioned that I was taking photos and my squad was hyping me up through the windows….well this is the photo people. Just wanted to catch some cool pics next to the van and with the sunset/ school in the back. I was feeling so loved in this and my face says it all!
Ok- the same 3 girls from the watering hole photo so I know this is lowkey pointless, but I love this picture so much!!! This is my peak fr. Living my best life. Also ps this is at debrief! We had a lil pizza party to say bye to the two teams staying in Johannesburg so we were all dressed up.
Oh hey yeah guys this is my Team Leader! The one that keeps team Wildflowers all in order. Not only is she a great leader but she also cuts hair. This is a photo of us upstairs after she chopped off Morgan’s locks. I can wholeheartedly say I would trust this girl with my hair….and my life bro she’s a REAL ONE. Pray for her and her journey because after South Africa she is headed home!! We love you Alex!!!!!
What an off day looks like:: I got some watercolors and have been painting away!! Also featuring the cover of my journal that I had to hand draw on because it peeled off within a week of having it. But yeah one of my goals for the race was to be more artsy and so it’s been fun to pursue that!
Snapped this picture of our team at the restaurant we were at on an off day!!! It’s so sweet to do life with these girls- also so sweet to be experiencing the cuisine up in here…..Tasty Table is the MOVE.
We had a lice outbreak, and the girl that slept next to me had it. This is is me planning to take a nap next to her taking a nap and worrying about a louse invading my scalp. Peep my head protection.
Another photo from debrief in Pretoria with my gal Julia! They had these trees that bloomed purple in the month of October and we got to see them!!!! The petals literally littered the streets and the trees were everywhereeeee.
The town we are staying in is a surf village so Sarah and I took it upon ourselves to take this goofy photo outside the mall. Featuring my new favorite drink- an appletizer. It’s sparkling apple juice and MAN IT’S TOO GOOD.
A meal we had at debrief. Just thought she was pretty and wanted to show you guys how well we were/are treated! Also, I know most of the photos featured here are from debrief but that was when I actually had my phone on me so that’s why!
One of my FAVORITE things we do on the Race!!! MOVIE NIGHT!!! This is me and a few friends upstairs in my room!! We watched a romantic movie, pushed the beds together, and ate ice cream. It’s girls night in EVERY NIGHT.
This is the church we go to every Sunday!! It’s called Father’s House and I really love it! If you ever want to see what service is like, tune into the livestream. Please let me know if you do! That would be super fun to chat about.
Annndd a few of my teammates! This was on the way home from grocery shopping. Also- funny story, the red needle thingy in Morgan’s hand is a chocolate dispenser?? One of the weirdest purchases ever- like you press the end and chocolate sprayed out. Just Africa things.
Well that’s all I have! Thank you guys so much for being apart of this journey! I’m so excited I got to show you a little bit more of my Race. I love it so much and am experiencing the Lord and life in such a new and beautiful way.
