HAD TO POST UP WITH A FUNNY STORY BUCKLE YOUR SEAT BELTS- and stay tuned for a vlog at the bottom of this!!!!

So Monday I had a rough day. Like she hit me HARD and I was feeling down and out, so I asked my friends if I could join them for a movie! Mid movie one of our squad mates comes in and she’s like “Hey- you guys may want to check your heads again. We found more lice.”

Keep in mind there have been about 4 lice outbreaks at this point, so I’m like SIGH! Again?

I ask to get checked, and sureeee enough

Ya girl had it. A LOUSE.

You know when you have a really bad day and then that one last thing just sends you over the edge???

THAT was me with that lil louse- and I just could not handle it. I went outside and called my mom and got some alone time because I just was sad sad SAD. (And the funniest thing is it was raining and I was crying outside of the building like it was so dramatic hahah)

But THEN I realized I had to go back into the room with 15 girls…. and I had big puffy eyes from crying oofffff

So I quietly walk in and shut the door and everyone is just silent, like waiting for me to talk, and I just go sit on my bed- because maaannn when you’re about to cry again and someone asks you to chat about it IT’S DOWNHILL FAST.

Of course though my squad is too sweet to not check in, and also I neeeevverrrrr cry, so someone says “Emma, are you ok?!”

Then I’m like teary eyed shaky voice saying “You know when you have a really bad day and then that one last thing just sends you over the edge???” And the girl I’m saying this to is so sweet (Love you Courtlan!) and just gives me a little mom look because she can tell I don’t want to talk about it hahah ahhh

So I lay back down in my bed trying to calm myself down when I realize that I can’t use my sleeping stuff because it has lice all over it. I THEN realize I can’t change my clothes because I will get my lice on them. I THEEEENNN realize we were leaving for a trip to Cape Town in two days and I was toast if I didn’t get rid of this stuff.

I ended up just sleeping through the night with my stuff though because I realized there was nothing I really could do at that point. Just get my strategy on for tomorrow.

Tuesday morning our house mom comes down the steps ready with the kitchen stuff (My team stays at home and cooks for our squad- that’s been our ministry for a while!) and we are up and at em’ to start cooking! Until our ministry host realized that we had it. She put an end to us being in the kitchen REAL fast. (Understandably…not rlly sure what went through my head as I was standing in the kitchen with lice but hey you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes and I was like oop ok we goin to ministry with lice today whatever)

SO yes anyways she’s like UHUH you two gotta go (shoutout to my girl Morgan McCrary who went through this with me you a real one) wash your clothes today, go ahead and go get started! Our SQL Marissa was like “Okay I know this is a lot for you to take care of so go ahead and have a day of prayer and a day off of ministry to ensure this is all taken care of before Cape Town!” So Morgan and I hopped ON IT.

We boiled water, poured vinegar in it and soaked the clothes for 2 hours. Then got detergent from the mall down the street. Then Caroline got home- she also had lice she just was at ministry because host mom didn’t know she had it hahhaa oooff. ANYWAYS THEN we hand washed every single thing in there. Then laid things out to dry.

Throughout this whole day I had lice treatment in my hair so after I showered that night they could be combed out. I showered and went back to my room to get combed where they then find 2 LIVE BUGGIES. BRUH. I’m just sitting there shocked that yesterday it was one nit- and now it was a full grown bug….. AND IT HAD A FRIEND. And it was also after my 8 hour treatment so I was MAD like….did they really disrespect their host like that??

So we started searching other girls and found out that like 10 of us had it…these bugs made their ROUNDS.

So we start buggin (ahahaha) and trying to think of what we were gonna do since we were leaving for Cape Town the next day. Then we were like “Yeah ok we all gotta stay home from ministry tomorrow and just get rid of these once and for all.” I honestly think that the reason they were still around was because we never got rid of all of them the first time ya know?? So we did the MOST. I’m talking shower caps, hairdryers, lice treatment, coconut oil, combs, vinegar- the whole 9 yards. We stayed home and had a TIME getting them all out. Suffocated all of our stuff. Took the washable things to the laundry. Rebuked those bugs in the name of the Lord. Stopped sharing clothes. Annndddd just in time to hop on the bus for vacay!

Ok I know this is gonna sound funny considering the story I just told- but isn’t the world Race literally the best? My sisters picked literal bugs out of my hair and then slept next to me. Life is sweet here lol

If you wanna see this thang full blown, check out this video I put together of the experience! Enjoy && thanks for reading! My love always.
