Hey, humans!
For a while now many of you have been asking me and wanting to know what is happening with my World Race and my answer was, “If you find out, let me know.” This past week I found out what the World Race’s plans were. So drumroll, please… This is the moment you’ve been waiting for.
Without keeping you guys in suspense, the World Race decided to put their contingency plan into effect for the fall. Their contingency plan is to bring all the participants to their headquarters in September and do an intensive discipleship training until they send us home for the holidays. After the holidays they would have us meet in Georgia and then fly out to our countries to do ministry. Participants also have the option of leaving in January and just doing a six-month gap year trip. There is also a good chance that the countries on each route will be changed.
The World Race let us know quite a while ago that this contingency plan was a possibility. I have had much time to think and pray about what I would do if the World Race got canceled and to process this reality. There were many different options and I spent most of my thinking time slightly overwhelmed. In the end though, as I prayed, I had peace when I realized that college is my intensive training for ministry. I decided to withdraw from taking a gap year with the World Race. I know that all of my curious people will want to know what I am doing this fall, but I don’t exactly know yet.
Since the World Race was changed and it isn’t just me deciding to drop out, then the money donated to my fundraising goal is refundable. If you donated money by giving it directly to me or via a love offering when I spoke at your church, your money is “safe”; I will be the one requesting the refund. If you donated right here using my blog, you should receive an email from me within the next couple of days with instructions on what to do next. The money that I raised, totaling around $14,500, will be put in my church’s missions fund. This money will stay there until I use it to go on another missions trip. I am planning on doing either the World Race’s 11n11 trip or another long term missions trip with another organization after I finish college.
Thank you for your support ever since I first decided to take a gap year, almost a year ago now. Goodbye for now- Emma
