“I’ve loved you the way my Father has loved me. Make yourselves at home in my love. If you keep my commands, you’ll remain intimately at home in my love. That’s what I’ve done—kept my Father’s commands and made myself at home in his love.”

John 15:9-10 MSG

I used to think that God wanted us to come to Him with the best version of ourselves. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. God knows where you really are. He knows all your doubts and fears. There’s no reason to wear a mask when you come to Him. He wants you – and everything that means.

Growth happens when you come to Him with everything. There is nothing to fear when you trust Him and follow His voice (Exodus 20:20).

It’s crazy to think that we have to come to God as close to perfect as we can get because throughout the Bible we see people come to God with brokenness and struggles, honestly and openly.

God has taught me recently that you can make all the plans you want, but in the end the only thing we can truly lean on is trust in Him. Plans may change, but He remains eternal and constant in all circumstances.

“Listen, those of you who are boasting, “Today or tomorrow we’ll go to another city and spend some time and go into business and make heaps of profit!” But you don’t have a clue what tomorrow may bring. For your fleeting life is but a warm breath of air that is visible in the cold only for a moment and then vanishes! Instead you should say, “Our tomorrows are in the Lord’s hands and if he is willing we will live life to its fullest and do this or that.””

James 4:13-15 TPT

You can come to Him. On your knees, crying, or in deep grief. There’s no part of you that He dosen’t want or can’t use to glorify Him. He’s not looking for perfection. We are only useful to the extent that we allow God to use us.

“you whom I took from the ends of the earth, and called from its farthest corners, saying to you, “You are my servant, I have chosen you and not cast you off”; fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:9-10 ESV

“So then, surrender to God. Stand up to the devil and resist him and he will turn and run away from you. Move your heart closer and closer to God, and he will come even closer to you. But make sure you cleanse your life, you sinners, and keep your heart pure and stop doubting. Feel the pain of your sin, be sorrowful and weep! Let your joking around be turned into mourning and your joy into deep humiliation. Be willing to be made low before the Lord and he will exalt you!”

James 4:7-10 TPT

He’s ready. What are you too scared or ashamed to bring to Him today?
