One part of our ministry here in Kampot, Cambodia is house visits. In the mornings we spend a couple hours visiting our neighbors in the village to share the love of Jesus, pray for the sick, and encourage the lonely. These morning moments have slowly turned into some of my favorite parts of life here. Walking through the rice paddies, which are the best shade of green I’ve ever seen, I’m overwhelmed every time with the beauty of where I live. Mountains covered in trees stand tall in the background as the wind swirls through the coconut trees and the sun shines on the red dirt road. I’m not even exaggerating, I truly think our village is one of the most gorgeous places I’ve ever seen.

Also, village life is one of the most gorgeous things I’ve ever experienced. I thought life in Battambang was simple and sweet and slow, but it was pretty much the equivalent of New York City compared to this. Village life is teaching me so much! House visits are teaching me so much! There’s no strict agenda. No time constraints. It’s just being with people and building relational. It’s having no real plans besides making the love of Jesus known in my words and actions. Sometimes that looks like holding hands or praying over someone who’s sick. It’s looked like sharing my testimony or the story of Jesus’ life, and holding children and making flower necklaces.

It’s been so beautiful to just slow down and love people. To really just focus on the faces in front of me and get to know the hearts beneath them. It’s so so sweet to watch people experience the love of Jesus. It’s such a privilege to be here. That He is actually using me to love people here is mind-blowing. Thank you, Jesus, for Kampot, Cambodia!
