Like the title says I’m Ghana love this month! Ghana is a beautiful country filled with people who love the Lord. For this month we are living in Cape Coast, a beach town that allows us to swim in the Atlantic Ocean all the time.

Cape Coast is well known for its castle sitting on the water. It is a imposing white structure on the Coast line, with rocks along the water and high walls blocking the water from coming inside.

We are living at a compound only a 10 minuet taxi drive from the city. This compound is home to 4 wild kids who scream as they play, 2 house mothers that keep us all sane, Uncle P who has been our guide since arriving, 4 older kids whose parents went through the rehab program, a sweet dog Minnie and her two puppies were we named Peanut and Coco (short for coconut), Pastor Chris, and a couple of men working to turn their life around.

During the week we have morning devotion at 6:30, we take turns sharing the word of God and preaching to everyone that lives here. After devotion we have time to ourselves that we use for quiet time, showers, or sleep before breakfast at 8. We are normally leaving the compound around 9-9:30 to head to the local town or the city to evangelize. We come back to the compound for lunch and right after head to Cape Coast to teach in the school, or evangelize more. Personally my favorite part of the day is at 4, we head down to the courts next to the ocean and play basketball. We each have a group of kids we meet with everyday, to share the word of God and get to know them. I am also doing a lot of coaching with the big group. Having 30 people on half a basketball court with 4-5 balls can make movement a little tricky but I’m thankful that I have free reign on what I want to do! After basketball we catch a taxi or bus and head home for dinner, devotion, team time and bed.

Our days are long and hot, we walk a lot. Ghana has really taken hold of our hearts.

This is David, he’s 12 and lives with us. He’s pretty awesom, loves to play basketball and is a great role model to the little kids living with us!
