I am a dreamer, a planner, an introvert, a teacher, an explorer and an optimist. I moved to Des Moines Iowa in 2012 to attend Drake University and play basketball. GO BULLDOGS!!!! #20 in the Country!! After graduating this past December with a degree in teaching, I began working at a Des Moines public school. Where I am a reading and math interventionist for kindergarten to third graders. This means I pull small groups of students struggling in reading and math and provide extra support and instruction to these students, to hopefully fill in the ‘gaps’. I love what I do. The kids make me smile every day, they make me stop teaching to laugh out loud and they let me sing silly songs without judgment. One of my favorite parts about working in the Des Moines school district is the cultural diversity of its students. We have students and families from all over the world represented in each of the schools. I am really excited to learn about some of the cultures my students are from.

I believe the world is meant to be explored, to be studied and appreciated. As I have grown up, I have had the desire to see the world; this feeling has magnified beyond a desire and turned into a need to see the world and be a part of something bigger than myself. This has led me to take the chance and say ‘YES’ to an 11-month mission trip and discipleship program called the World Race through the non-profit organization Adventures in Missions. God has blessed me in so many ways and, I want to share those blessings with the people of the world. God is love, hope, forgiveness, and faithfulness. God is calling me on this journey, saying ‘go’ to where I will be challenged and pushed so that He may be the rock to my foundation. With my team, we will be traveling to El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Cote D’Ivoire, Ghana, Nepal, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Thank you for taking this journey with me, I hope you will continue to follow as I prepare for training camp in June and my launch date in August.

Yes, I get to travel, but this is not a vacation. This will be the hardest thing I have ever done, but it will also be the most rewarding.

Yes, I am excited, but I’m also terrified. My emotions are all over the place, I cannot pinpoint exactly what I am feeling. God knows. So for right now, I am taking this journey day-by-day.

This will be a journey of the heart. A time for me to know God, a time for me to grow in Him.
