(This is not the boy)

To the little boy that was just given an e-cigarette to smoke,

  • I’m sorry.

  • I’m sorry that an adult thought this was a good idea.

  • I’m sorry you said yes.

  • I’m sorry that this is the man that will pay you for your help.

  • I’m sorry that your job is to pack the para-gliders chutes.

  • I’m sorry that at 7 you are a pro at packing, when you should be a pro at school and having fun.

  • I’m sorry you have to work.

My heart hurts for you, I see you as a beautiful son of God. I see you working hard to make a little extra money for your family. I see you being taken advantage of, the language barrier is so present and you only seek to please. Hoping for a little extra money.

To the man, I ask you to see yourself, your son and daughter in this little boy. Would you ever give a cigarette to a child that you know? Why did you ever think this was a good idea?

God loves you even though we make mistakes. He loves us despite the devil putting these thoughts in our head. See this boy as the child he is, don’t make him grow up any faster than he already is. Don’t create an addiction in a place where addiction is so prevalent.

Please know that you are loved, and for every person out there that does something to wrong you. This is another doing to right thing.
