The month of June might have been the quickest 30 days of my life..
Within the last month I:
– Moved out of my apartment
– Moved back in with my parents
– Took over the house
Sorry!
– Went to training camp for 10 days
– Had 3 doctors appointments
– Went to a family reunion
– Drove to Pennsylvania with my brother and his girlfriend
June was crazy busy. But to clarify it was a good busy. I was able to spend quality time with my family and check many items off my to-do list. Making my stress level go down a bit. However, it feels that each time I complete one item I am simultaneously adding two more to the same list. Leaving for 11 months entails a lot more planning and preparation than I thought.
June also began my season of goodbyes. I got to spend time with my family who live in Pennsylvania creating new memories and reflecting on the past. I got to meet new family members and experience the history of the city. I bravely went down into the coal mine to learn what my relatives went through. I learned that I am not cut out for coal mining; the spaces many boys and men had to work in would not have been large enough for me to move in, let alone mine for coal.
I got to spend each morning sitting by the lake with my bible and a cup of coffee welcoming in the day. Enjoying the sunshine and warm air, I was able to get rid of my watch tan line (freckle line) from training camp.
June was wonderful. It was crazy and relaxing at the same time. I had moments where I was completely elated ready to begin my adventure but I also had moments wishing I wasn’t saying goodbye for a year. Saying goodbye, see you later or so long to anyone is hard; but saying it to people you love and your family is even harder. I am so happy that I was able to spend time with those that I love and I am so grateful that I have people that do make it so hard to say goodbye.
The countdown is on 21 days!! We will be leaving Atlanta on August 7th to head down to El Salvador!
